Been a while... Sorry, sometimes my whimsied whit goes on vacation.
Ms. Schultz went to DC!
|
Look at that shot, I did it from the top of the moving bus! |
It has been a while since I've been there, I was like 10 or 11 maybe.
But I didn't go to DC, just for DC. Oh no....
It was this precious face :)

That's my girl |
It had been entirely too long since I had seen this precious face, who I have had the distinct pleasure over the past 9 years of spending tons of time drinking, chatting and traveling.
I flew into DC on American (I've had better) and because of the tornados that hit DFW that week and apparently not checking the plane was working before loading it, we had a delay. No worries, I got into Reagan, grabbed my carry-on grabbed the first train to DuPont Circle.
Now I was romping around with my bag and since I dragged that bitch around like thats what I do, I found that people were more interested in befriending me than staring and assuming mean tourist thoughts. So after a new friend pick-up, they were a cute new couple on a date, I made it to the bar to see CHRISTY!!!!
We ran down to the Russian Vodka Bar. That's the name, and we were the only non-Russians. We laughed, cried from laughing, and drank Russian vodka. There was a dude, I assume his name was Boris, who was apparently "eye-doing" me. He was just outside of my peripheral vision, so I was not uncomfortable, but Christy and her friend felt violated for me. Boris asked me to stay for another drink in the signature Russian rumble, but we had a train to catch!

I will point out that we stayed up until 4 or so drinking JW Black and giggling or guffawing. |
So after a recovery breakfast, we hit the train and did the DC day trip. We decided to do the open top bus, because, well, I had limited time and this was an overview. I can focus more on my next trip. I will not sit here wax poetically about what I saw, I will just pictorialize it for ya.

The White House... we were too lazy to go to the front |
|
You can see the Earthquake cracks! |
|
Waiting for the bus.
You take a hot dog, wrap it in a pizza, you got cheezy blasters! Thanks Meat Cat!
We sang that. |
|
A statue we no doubt stole from S. America |
|
That's a crazy car. I wanted to get closer. |

Ford Theater |

Jefferson Memorial |
|
Lincoln! |
My pictures got jumbled, and every time I caption the uncaptioned picture, it deletes the picture. Weird.
Moving on as they say.
We went to U Street that night for a celebratory birthday etc dinner and drinks. At one point we called a one, Michelle Nichols, and sang Whitney Houston to her. Why? Why not?
The severely steep subway escalators make me dizzy and vertigo'd.
Sunday, Christy made us breakfast and we drank some lovely mimosas. Then we took the Sammer Jammer, her sweet doggie Samantha, to the park near her house.
We closed out the day with a nice light dinner and went to see a film, Salmon Fishing in the Yemen, at the local theater. It was a really nice wind down. Went home and talked books, and careers, stayed up probably too late. But worth it.
Got up at 5:30ish to take the train back to Reagan and fly home. The line was longer for Dunkin Donuts coffee than for security.
Thank you Dr. Crusty Pants for a wonderful weekend. No more long waits!
