Worms Eat My Garbage!

That's right. Worms eat my garbage.
The City of Austin has a wonderful program that encourages residents to utilize all types "recycling" and "waste reduction" with the goal of the city cutting 90% of its refuse. Which is really just a great excuse for my progressive tree hugging ass to get some pet worms.
So I decided to use worms because I live in a studio, and my 400 square feet of heaven does not include a yard. If you have a yard there are easier options. I'm going to try and keep the bins outside, away from the rain and sun so I can keep my worms happy. I had these large recycling containers that I no longer use since Austin has a pick up recycling program that Houston did not, so I drilled holes in two of them to create chambers. Has to do with harvesting the poo as fertilizer. I know, there are quite a few skipped details. Basically, I am giving myself a lot of space for garbage to be turned into poo fertilizer.

If you look closely, you can see the little guys. I recommend everyone try composting. I feel very accomplished without doing much. Awesome.

Here goes...

So, here I am. I moved to Austin May 22nd, 2011. I am now at that funny side of 25 where one starts to think things like, "I may need credit to buy a new car." or "What is a 401k?" or "You can grow basil yourself?!?"

With the encouragement of some much more creative and interesting friends, I am writing this funny part of my 20's down. So, this might be adventures in dating, or projects, or health stuff. I just don't know. I just may be wasting your time ;)

Yep, this is me. Stephanie. My 26th birthday in New Orleans, La.
I believe we had already been drinking a good 8 hours by then.
